Affiliate Professor Michael Jefferson contributed a chapter to Peter Earl and Bruce Littleboy's book on "G. L. S. Shackle", in the Palgrave Macmillan series on "Great Thinkers in Economics", published at the end of June. His review of Angela Wilkinson and Roland Kupers' "The Essence of Scenarios: Learning from the Shell Experience", published by Amsterdam University Press, is shortly to be published in Technological Forecasting and Social Change. World Scientific is about to publish the 46th Session of the International Seminar on Nuclear War and Planetary Emergencies, in which a paper of his on renewable energy appears, following last year's chapter: "A renewable energy future?" in Roger Fouquet's "Handbook on Energy and Climate Change", published by Edward Elgar.
He is currently revising a paper: ""Energy Analysis and Policy Challenges for the 21st Century: The Need for Rethinking" for the journal Energy Research and Social Science, all reviewers having - according to the journal's Editor - taken a positive view of it overall. This paper follows the final plenary session paper he gave at the recent EMC conference held in Crete. He is also preparing a paper for a forthcoming Special Issue of Energy Policy, where he is a member of the journal's International Advisory Board.
Springer have commissioned a book from him: ""Global Energy Challenges of the 21st Century."", to be delivered by May, 2015. Counter-intuitively, this is likely to start with the later Neolithic Period though finishing with the question: are we approaching the twilight of the Anthropocene Age?
"The EMC's Mission is to build a strong proactive partnership between academia, industry and government, to debate the challenges of the new energy era."
