The IEA’s World Energy Outlook – Paving the Path to a Sustainable Future

Today, we are facing a major geopolitical crisis in the Middle East that could cause a great shock to all markets, as most oil producers are located in the region, causing energy insecurity. In addition to the geopolitical crisis, climate challenges are more pronounced than ever. Our planet is experiencing devastating extreme weather, record-breaking heatwaves, flooding and rapid ice melt, to name a few examples.
The International Energy Agency’s Tim Gould (Chief Energy Economist) and Siddharth Singh (Energy Investment Analyst) will share key insights on this year’s World Energy Outlook (WEO) report:
- Overview of the fifty years since the first oil shock
- China’s role in the energy markets and developments in the clean energy domain
- The current energy outlook – Assessing the major structural shifts needed to overcome energy security and climate change risks:
- How can governments triple renewables capacity between now and 2030?

Overview: The London Journal of Energy is a biannual publication focused on current energy affairs. It is a collaboration between The London School of Economics, University College London, ESCP Business School, and Imperial College London, making it the largest student-for-student energy magazine in print.

Renewable Energy Facility Visits in the UK and France

Our MSc in Energy Management students will visit a wind and solar site during their London term. In Paris, they will visit a nuclear plant. The visits will help them to gain a deep understanding of sustainability alongside the renewable energy business and its technological concepts. More details will be announced soon. Stay tuned!
