Invited Talk on "How National Oil Companies, Established and Emerging Producers are Dealing with Low Prices"
Speaker: Dr Valérie Marcel, Associate Fellow, Chatham House
Oil prices have dropped significantly since mid 2014 and the effects are being felt around the globe. Falling prices is one of the most critical challenges faced by national oil companies, established and emerging producers as their revenues have been drastically reduced. Today's energy leaders need to successfully do business in an era of low oil prices.
ESCP and its Energy Management Centre hosted a discussion on the topic "How National Oil Companies, Established and Emerging Producers are Dealing with Low Prices". The event took place at ESCP's London Campus at 6:30 pm on 29th September, 2016.
Guest speaker Dr Valérie Marcel will reveal vital elements to be considered by oil and gas executives. Participants will hear the latest on:
- How different producers are responding to low prices
- Which NOCs are more vulnerable to low prices
- What happens to local content policy in this context
- Managing public expectations through commodity cycles
The talk was followed by a networking reception, allowing attendees the opportunity to meet the speaker and network with our Executive Master in Energy Management (EMEM) participants and MSc in Energy Management (MEM) students.
