The Venue
The Conference took place at the MINOA PALACE RESORT & SPA, a luxury 5* beachside hotel, built within 35.000m2 of maintained gardens. It is situated in the cosmopolitan area of Platanias, 12 km west of the picturesque town of Chania and only 30 min drive from Chania International Airport.
The hotel offers majestic views of its surrounding countryside and the White Mountains. To the north, the hotel enjoys panoramic views of the endless golden beach of Platanias with the shimmering sapphire blue Aegean beyond. With the extension of the hotel in 2008, guests have immediate access to the sandy beach, over the newly built aerial bridge, connecting the two hotel's sections.

The welcome reception took place at the pool area of MINOA PALACE hotel.
Conference Dinner (23rd May, 2013):
Venue: Manousakis Winery
All participants were invited to attend the gala Dinner which will took place at Manousakis Winery. A tour of the winery in combination with a presentation and explanation of the wine making process followed by a full tasting of all available wines was scheduled.

Travel information
Visiting Chania could be either by plane or by boat.
CHANIA AIRPORT- IOANNIS DASKALOGIANNIS
The IATA code used for the international airport of Chania is CHQ. It is situated 14km from Chania city (about 20 minutes' drive) and 22km from the Conference Venue. The airport hosts domestic flights to and from Athens with Aegean Airlines. Also, there are charter flights from across the Europe from Britain, Germany, Scandinavia and other European countries. It is connected with Chania city by public transport and taxis.
Bus routes connect the airport with the city center (line Chania Airport - Chania). They last about 30 minutes, while the ticket price is 2.30 €. You may find updated information on bus routes (e.g. timetables) here. The taxi rank is located just outside the passenger terminal.
HERAKLION AIRPORT- NIKOS KAZANTZAKIS
The IATA code used for the international airport of Heraklion is HER. It is 4km away from the center of the city. Local buses leave from the airport every few minutes, from Monday to Saturday but less frequent on Sundays. Also, the taxi rank is located just outside the passenger terminal. Major car-rental companies have desks at the airport.
Heraklion is the largest city and the administrative capital of the island of Crete. It is one of the largest cities in Greece. The distance from Heraklion city to the center of Chania is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. There is the West Crete Bus Service, which connect the two cities.
SOUDA PORT
The port of Souda offers 1 boat trip from and to Piraeus (Athens) every day (e.g. timetables here). The port is situated 7km away from the city center and 14km away from the Conference Venue. Regular bus routes also connect the port with the city center (line Souda - Chania). They last about 20-25 minutes, while the ticket price is 2.00 €. You may find updated information on bus routes (e.g. timetables) here.
Finally, bus routes that connect the Conference Venue with the city center are also available (line Chania - Platanias). They last about 20 minutes, while the ticket price is ~ 3.50 €. By car you can go from Chania towards Kolymbari on the motorway and go out on the junction of Platanias. You can also get a taxi from anywhere in Chania city and they will be able to drive you there.
